The final results are in and the combined team of Newmarket and Sudbury Joggers have successfully won the men’s Suffolk Winter League XC title and finished 2nd in both the ladies and overall.
These are our best results since the 2015/16 season where the team won the ladies and overall. The senior men’s XC team this season has been in very fine form by adding the SWL league win to the Eastern Cross Championships title they won in November 2024.
The trophies were presented at Framlingham Sports Club on the 7th March attended by representatives of the clubs including NJ Events Team Captain Angela Drury who has done a fantastic job over the season keeping members updated and even organising a mini bus for the last fixture of the season at Woburn Farm.
It’s been very much a team effort with 61 individual senior Newmarket Joggers running at least one race (a 45% increase in numbers from last season) and momentum has very much built throughout the season. The number of members turning up to each fixture, putting in amazing efforts and supporting each other has contributed to an incredible set of results. It’s certainly been a case of the more the merrier! There has also been an increase in the number of juniors representing the club with pride so the future of the club looks in safe hands.
The full results for seniors and juniors can be found on the Suffolk Athletics website – https://suffolkathletics.org.uk/suffolk-winter-league/

Our runners excellent form has been rewarded by several being selected to run at the Inter-County Championships in Nottingham. Cerys Bithell and Harvey Thomas in the juniors and Robert Dobson, Joey Bendall and Hugh Tawell in the seniors. Cerys, Harvey and Lillian Corbett have also been chosen to represent their respective counties in the finals of the English Schools National Cross-Country Championships in West Sussex the week after.
The main take away from the season has been the amazing atmosphere and teamwork displayed at all the Suffolk Winter League races – everyone who ran really played their part and the team trophies are the result. So a big thank you to you all. Roll on the 2025/26 cross country season!
