Joggers still in race action on the last weekend before Christmas

Caroline McIntosh F70-74 has had a hard year’s racing, with marathons in London, Nova Scotia and Berlin, plus all her other various half marathons and running challenges, including training camp trips abroad to Portugal and Cyprus. However, she was still out there at Barrow on Sunday, doing the Zig Zag Christmas Canter Golding Hills 10K on the weekend before Christmas, adding a cheeky extra few miles onto the distance as well. She completed the hilly, out & back 10k course in 1:15:35, finishing 23rd F of 38 and 44th of 65 overall. Needless to say, she will also be one of 23 Newmarket Joggers competing in the very popular Ely New Year’s Eve 10K, on Wednesday next week.

On the same day, Barley Woodcock headed for Thetford Forest, to take part in the  High Lodge Duathlon, which included a 7.25km ride, sandwiched between 2 x 2.30km runs. He did very well to finish 2nd of 26 participants, just seven seconds behind the winner. His total time, including transitions, was 34:44.2.

Not exactly a race, but a band of five Joggers decided to run all the way from Newmarket to Cambridge Railway Station on Sunday morning, then catching the train back to Newmarket, after some celebrations with bubbly at the Station Tavern on Station Square. The Joggers were Jeremy Reader, Helen Hilario, Ian Butcher, Adrian Whittle and Angela Drury. The distance covered was approximately 18 miles, which took them a little under 3 hours of moving time and was good practice for the Bury to Clare 18 next May.
