Newmarket Joggers are participating in the central division of the EMAC 2023 Track & Field League. There are four matches throughout the summer and the top teams from each division then compete in the season final.
Most events are contested in six age groups: W35, M35, W50, M50, W60, M60. Each team can enter one scoring athlete per age group in each event. (There are exceptions to this rule, for example the mile/1500m where each team can simply enter two athletes of any age, and some of the jumps which don’t have V60 categories.)
The winning athlete in each age group scores 8 points, the athlete who comes second scores 7, and so on. The scoring system is arranged such that you are guaranteed to score at least one point simply by showing up so it is important for us to be able to fill as many slots as possible and we always encourage our members to come and have a go at new events even if they are not confident in their performance.
