Great North Run, Sunday Sept 8th: Four Joggers were among a huge field of ~45,795 participants completing this half marathon race, from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields on the Tyneside coast.
First home was Chris Burns M50 (1:27:23 PB, 982nd overall, 39th in M50-54), who earned a PB by over 3 minutes, according to our records. Next to finish was Mike Sales M55 (1:53:50, 10,913th) recording his best time in this race by over 3 minutes, out of six attempts since 2017. His regular, long, training runs over trails have paid dividends. Then came Rachele Cooper FS (2:02:24, 16,681st), who helped to raise over £1,000 for the Myaware charity, supporting those suffering from Mayathenia Gravis. She managed to complete the race, despite a painful knee for the last 4 miles. Fourth Jogger home was Sarah Sales F55 (2:22:28, 28,347th) with a good effort. Apologies that neither gender nor age group information is easily searchable in the results.

Also on Sunday it was the Felixstowe Coastal 10M, which followed a 10-mile route up and down Felixstowe promenade. The bracing, southerly wind made it a tough race. Putting in a PB performance was Jonathan Pye (59:23 PB, 8th of 536 overall, 5th of 109 in MS), closely followed by Jimmy Smith (1:00:46, 11th, 2nd of 50 in M45). Then came David Percy (1:08:34, 66th, 10th in M45) and Chris Underwood (1:11:23, 85th, 29th in MS). Nicole Smith (1:30:30, 62nd F of 226, 10th of 36 in F50) achieved a good gender and age group result, despite finding it very tough going.
