South Downs Way Ultra 50 Miles.
Newmarket Jogger Kevin Connolly is and established ultra runner these days and began this years campaign with a sensational 30 pb in the 50 Miles South Downs Way Ultra. With 600ft of total elevation, in perfect weather conditions, Kevin took in the race from Worthing to Eastbourne and stormed home in 9 hours 26 minutes.
Little Bromley 10k, Harwich.
The first running of the Little Bromley 10K took place on Sunday hosted by Harwich Road Runners. Newmarket Joggers were represented by Sophie Adams who finished in 59.22 and supported by Jackie Henley and Keith Page in 1.14.42 and 1.14.43 respectively. In true seaside tradition, they “refuelled” afterwards in Clacton with fish and chips and ice cream!
Haverhill Half Marathon.
The scenic, but hilly Haverhill Half Marathon was the choice for some of the Newmarket Joggers top endurance runners. Craig Sargent ran superbly to finish in 1.30.07 and a third pace overall, with Neil Williamson showing continued good form in sixth place in 1.33.49. Cambourne 10K, Sunday 10th April.
The Cambourne 10k is growing in stature each year and this this was reflected by the field of 878 runners. Newmarket Joggers were well represented and Ian Jackson led the Suffolk club home in 44.34. Paris Marathon. Sunday 3rd April.
Paul Holley and Carolynn Anderson journeyed to Paris once more for another crack at the Paris Marathon. Newmarket Jogger Neil Pollard is in a rich vein of form and keep this theme going at the Thorney 10k near Peterborough. Stanwick 10K
Newmarket Jogger Nik Chapman has been on the comeback trail since suffering a nasty calf tear in a Half Marathon in early February. He is clearly progressing well, and chose the Stanwick 10K as a stepping stone to full fitness. Nik came home in 47.14.
World Half Marathon Championships, Cardiff. Saturday 26th March.
Newmarket Jogger Paul Dockerill decided to pitch up and take on the very best in the World at the rain swept Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff. It proved a good decision and he was inspired by the class of Mo Farah and Co to shave 3 minutes off his previous best to record a fabulous personal best of 1.33.29.
North London Half Marathon.
Jo Curtis and David Blackstock have been running in some very exclusive Half Marathons recently, and turned out in the North London Half Marathon. They came home together in 2.15.08.
Fleet Half Marathon
Jon Brooker has been patient in his rehab from injury last year and is progressing in to a serious endurance performer. He was rewarded with a stunning pb of 1.34.05. in the prestigious Fleet Half Marathon
