Marc Walker and Caroline Mcintosh complete scenic Kimbolton Castle Half Marathon

In a quiet Bank Holiday weekend for the Joggers, Marc Walker and Caroline Mcintosh took up the enjoyable challenge of the Kimbolton Castle Half Marathon in Huntingdonshire on Sunday August 28th. This popular annual race starts in the majestic surroundings of Kimbolton Castle and is run over a traffic-free, closed-road course, which passes through the villages of Tillbrook, Lower Dean, Upper Dean and Swineshead, before returning to Kimbolton Castle and an iconic finish in front of the stately palace.

Marc Walker M50 (1:56:45) put in a big effort to finish 157th of 317 runners overall and 33rd of 53 in M50-59. This was a scenic but also quite a tough, undulating course and Marc’s best time of 2022 remains 1:49:24 in the Cambridge Half Marathon last March. Caroline Mcintosh F65 (2:37:29) did well to achieve her best half marathon time this year, finishing 91st of 109 female runners. She has risked competing in this race just a week before taking part in the London Big Half on September 4th, so we wish her plenty of stamina for London.

Kimbolton Castle was the final home of King Henry VIII’s first wife, Catherine of Aragon. Originally a medieval castle but converted into a stately palace, it was the family seat of the Dukes of Manchester from 1615 until 1950. It now houses Kimbolton School.

Kimbolton Castle, captured by Caroline Mcintosh. Many thanks to Caroline.
