On a quiet Bank Holiday weekend for Newmarket Joggers, the highlight was another PB for Mark Hayward, in the Hatfield Broad Oak Jubilee 10K in Hertfordshire on Friday 3rd June. This event was cleverly moved from its normal late May Spring Bank Holiday date to Platinum Jubilee Day. Mark clocked 34:35, coming 8th of 989 finishers overall and 1st of 132 in M40. This beat his previous best time of 35:17, recorded in the Wymondham New Year 10K last January. Mark has been unstoppable in 2022, with a hatful of PBs at all distances from 5K to Marathon.

Up In Norfolk, Danielle Jones and Olivia Carter took a chance in the Marham Flyers Jubilee Brick Duathlon at RAF Marham on Sunday 5th June. This event entailed a 20km bike ride, followed immediately by a 10km run. Danielle and Olivia stayed together for support, finishing 28th and 29th of 42 participants in a time of 1:38:07. Their 10km time was 50:14 according to their watches, though not published separately in the results. They were new to this kind of event and seemed keen to give it another go in the future.
