Just a day after performing to a very high standard in the Hockeys 5K League fixture at Horseheath Racecourse on May 19th (the results of which had not been officially released at the time of writing), our fastest male runners were in action again on Friday 20th May in the Kirton Friday 5, the first of a series of 6 Friday 5-mile fixtures. Neil Pollard (27:33, 7th of 427 overall, 1st of 38 in M40) was first Jogger home, shaving one second off his all-time PB. Then came Mark Hayward (27:36, 8th, 2nd in M40), an all-time PB for him by 20 seconds, followed by Jimmy Smith (28:33, 13th, 4th in M40), whose PB of 27:13 gained in 2017 still stands. Also running well were Brian Munns (39:18, 203rd, 26th of 41 in M55) and Jim Withers (46:53, 335th, 5th of 10 in M65).
On Sunday, May 21st, the Stephen Williams 10K at Thurston, near Bury St Edmunds, attracted 8 Newmarket Joggers. Dan Hutchison was first Jogger to finish, in a time of 34:46, 6th of 229 runners overall, not quite matching his 34:25 gained in Dubai earlier this year. Then came Jonathan Pye (36:52, 12th, a PB by over 2 min), Sam Sadler (40:05, 28th), Jason Beeton (42:05, 39th), Aaron Self (53:29, 132nd), Francesca Self (57:41, 46th F of 102), Angela Brennan (1:06:30, 77th F) and Caroline Mcintosh (1:16:22, 95th F).

Also on Sunday, the Ickworth 10K hoohaah, the 3rd fixture of a series of 4, attracted 10 Joggers and 367 participants overall. Hannah Parsons was in great form, clocking 47:02 and finishing 6th of 218 female runners, 4th of 86 in her F45-54 age group. Her PB still stands at 44:20 in the Cambridge Town & Gown 10K, 2019. Then came Rachael Maltpress (53:37, 21st F, 5th of 48 in F40), Jo Haynes (55:52, 35th F, 13th of 86 in F45-54), Paul Roberts (57:55, 145th overall, 20th in M40), Baz Colley (59:11, 162nd, 34th in M45-54), Sarah Martin (1:07:56, 145th F, 36th in F40), Sarah Kinston (1:10:15, 161st F, 67th in F45-54), Orla Dockery (1:13:56, 183rd F), Pearl Fay (1:16:03, 190th F, 22nd in F55-64) and Gillian Green (1:20:58, 203rd F, 24th in F55-64).
Two Joggers made their way to the Baddow 10 Mile Run, near Chelmsford in Essex. Mike Sales (M55) clocked 1:35:11, finishing 282nd of 491 overall, with Sarah Sales (F50) not far behind in 1:37:35, 83rd F of 183. This appears to be their first 10 mile race on record.
