Big Joggers’ turnout at Childerley hoohaah 10K

The Barr Ellison Childerley hoohaah 10K in Cambridgeshire, the second event of the hoohaah 2022 series, attracted 13 Newmarket Joggers on Sunday 24th April. First male Jogger home was Andrew Aldridge M45 (45:27, 23rd of 360 overall, 10th of 57 in M45-54), not far from his best 10K time this year, with Hannah Parsons F45 (48:08, 39th overall, 6th F of 210, 2nd of 87 in F45-54) first female Jogger to finish. This was Hannah’s first race of 2022 and she has clearly maintained excellent form. Also in good form over the difficult, hilly, trail course were Ruth Bell (54:49, 20th F, 3rd of 11 in F20-29) and Baz Colley M50 (56:07, 118th overall). Other Joggers putting in good efforts were: Wayne Hargreaves M50 (1:02:58, 192nd), Paul Roberts M40 (1:03:03, 196th, calf injury), Jan Holmes F55 (1:05:45, 104th F), Sarah Last F50 (1:10:09, 134th F), Sarah Martin F40 (1:10:14, 137th F), Sarah Kinston F45 (1:12:16, 153rd F), Orla Dockery (1:13:29, 166th F), Pearl Fay F60 (1:18:16, 189th F) and Gillian Green F60 (1:20:54, 203rd F).

Not far away in Cambridgeshire on the same day, it was the Northstowe Half Marathon; a new race for a new small town, situated close to the guided busway between Cambridge and Huntingdon. Jeremy Reader M45 (1:58:42, 85th of 184 overall) was first Jogger home from Clive Purbrook M65 (2:01:22, 96th overall). Jeremy clocked 1:49 in the Cambridge Half in March, while this was Clive’s first half marathon of 2022.

Joggers are gearing up for the start of the Hockeys Summer 5K League, which replaces the former Kevin Henry Summer 5K League. Like Kevin Henry, the new sponsor, Hockeys, is an estate agent in Saffron Walden. We are very grateful to Kevin Henry for their support over many years and also to Hockeys for carrying on the tradition. The first of 5 fixtures this year will take place on Thursday April 28th at 7:30pm in Impington, organised by Cambridge Triathlon Club, together with Histon & Impington Runners. The club teams involved in the league are expected to be the same as before: Saffron Striders (Saffron Walden), Haverhill RC, Cambridge Triathlon Club, Histon & Impington Runners, Royston Runners, Ely Runners, Cambridge & Coleridge AC and Newmarket Joggers.
