No races to report on from the weekend but we did have our “Jingle Jog” on Thursday evening Dec 20th and a photo is included of those in their Christmas fancy dress, which makes a jolly picture. They jingle-jogged around town in festive spirit and called in on several hostelries, including The White Hart, The New Wellington, The Shoes, The Waggon & Horses and The Golden Lion (Wetherspoon). A nice end to a hard year of training and competitive races.
The Ely New Year’s Eve 10K is a favourite club race (sold out) and is coming up on Monday with a large number of Joggers entered for it. For those who have missed out at Ely, the RAF Marham NYE 10K will take entries on the day and is a nice flat PB course on closed RAF service roads, so a useful alternative and recommended as a very well organised race. Race start 11:00am, registration 9:00am.
There will no doubt be some club members running in the “Tripple Tipple” event at Barrow, which includes three marathon races (all 8:00am) on Fri Dec 28th, Sat 29th and Sun 30th Dec. You can run in just one if you wish and you do actually get a choice of spirit tipple at the last checkpoint. There is also one half marathon on Sat 29th Dec at 8:00am. Entries can be taken online or on the day, with half marathon £20.00 and marathon £30.00, maybe more on the day. There are no more medals to be given out in the half marathon, as the entry numbers have exceeded expectations.
Other races of possible interest over the festive period are the Groggy Doggy XC over 1.5 (9-12 years), 2.1 (1 lap) or 4.2 miles (2 laps) at Bungay on Boxing Day 10:30am. Entries on the day £7.00 for adults, £4.00 for 9 to 16 years old. There is also The Boxing Day 5 mile at Witham at 11am, all road, £15 on the day. On Sunday 30th there is the Buntingford 10 mile race at 10:30am, but there is a waiting list. Maybe some have entered the Wymondham New Year’s Day 10K at 11am, which is also sold out. Wherever you are racing, the best of luck!
