27th August 2018

On Bank Holiday Monday, four Newmarket Joggers lined up for the start of the Downham Market Sublime 10K race.  Simon Harris was first Jogger home in a time of 40:09 and finished 15th of 326 competitors, while Alex Cairns was very close behind in 21st position in a season’s best time of 40:49.  That beat his previous best in the St Albans 10K three weeks ago by 6 seconds. Jo Curtis and David Blackstock were also competing and crossed the line together in a time of 54:44.

Over at Mildenhall on Sunday, Sara Brown tried her luck in the Triathlon Sprint and did well to complete in 1:30:43, clocking 28:20 in the final 5K run.

On Saturday, James Tweed was up in the Lake District in Patterdale and competed with two of his sons in the Arnison Crag Horseshoe, a 3 mile fell race with 900ft of uphill and beautiful views on the way down if you survive the climb. It’s a really tough course and James did well to finish a respectable 37th of 51 competitors in a time of 34:13.  His quicksilver sons Bertie (27:33) and Archie (30:40), not members of Newmarket Joggers, finished in 14th and 22nd position respectively, with Bertie setting a new junior record.

Reporting your results:  Please email: press@newmarketjoggers.co.uk if you would like to let us know about a race (not a parkrun or GRL) you have taken part in, including your name and race details plus results link if possible. We need to know by Sunday evening as the reports go to press on a Monday morning for publication on Thursday. We keep an eye on most local races but more distant races can easily be missed. Not everyone’s results will make it to newsprint…that depends on space and the sports editor, but they should appear on this page.  Current press contact: Chris Aylmer.
