Congratulations to Mark Hayward who completed what I think is his first full Ironman triathlon event (2.4m swim/112m bike/26.2m marathon run) at Holme Pierrepont Nottingham on Sunday 29th July, recording a time of 10:49:58. That put him 64th of 875 single competitors overall, excluding relay teams. In his strongest discipline of running, he completed the marathon in 3:32:24, putting him 30th overall and 8th of 116 by age group, so a fine achievement. Followers of Mark on NJ Strava Club will know how hard he has been training for this event, with regular swimming workouts at Milton Country Park, lots of long runs and hundreds of miles of biking in recent months, not to mention a challenging weekend appetizer of standard, sprint and super-sprint triathlons last month at Fritton Lakes. He previously completed a Half Ironman at Holkham in 4:57:24 last year.
