1st July 2018

The Marcus Gynn Newmarket 10K took place on Sunday 1st July with over 230 runners taking part. This race is run in memory of Marcus who sadly passed away in 2016. This year monies raised from the run will be donated to Sarcoma UK Cancer Charity. The beautiful undulating scenic route was bathed in sunshine, making tough going for todays runners. Newmarket joggers, Jeremy Reader, Jamie Rule and John Duke still managed to achieve a course PB in fancy dress. The gentlemen donned Christmas outfits to run the course in 52.59 in the blazing sunshine!
Chris Gay ( 37.16) was first Newmarket Jogger to cross the line, giving him 3rd overall position. Following closely was Paul Dockeril (42.50) and Simon Cockerton (49.12) . Hannah Pollard (45.17) was 1st female Newmarket Jogger to finish giving her 40th overall position, and 5th female over all. Emma Newman ( 53.04) also put in a good run, alongside fellow joggers, Sara Brown (1.03.29), and Hannah Parsons (1.03.32). Joggers running this 10K for the first time put in superb effort to get over the line including new club runners, Emma Bartle, Sarah Kinston and Rachel Allen.
The Junior race was also well attended with younger Newmarket joggers coming home with trophy’s.
