400 people took part in the 18 mile run or walk, in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care. A route over the gently undulating countryside of West Suffolk, through the villages of Hawstead, Whepstead, Somerton and others, with several churches along the way. The Challenge is to complete within 8 hours. Newmarket Jogger Daisy Glover came in 1st overall place in 2.07.55. Daisy who said she got a little lost on route still managed to out run all the other entrants. Nicky Chapman also put in a good run, completing the 18 miles in 2.39.55. Other joggers completing the distance included, Ruth Eberhardt, Chris Aylmer and Grainne Brennan.
In Norfolk another of the joggers came in a medal position – Paul Holley came 3rd overall in the Dereham 10 mile run, which had 483 runners. Paul completed in 57.46. The clubs Clive Purbrook also finished the run. (1.17.44)
Andrew Taylor ran the 10K at the 3rd Waterbeach running festival. Despite having a sore hamstring Andrew crossed the line in 48.28.
Further afield Caroline McIntosh completed the Stratford upon Avon half marathon (2.49.18) and Melanie Tindale completed the Milton Keynes half marathon. ( 1.59.05)
