A truly impressive run in the Paris Marathon for club runner – Daisy Glover. Daisy completed this, her 1st ever marathon in an incredible 2.52.17! Daisy said she was “surprised by the time as she had only ever ran to 14 miles!” Daisy had taken a few years off from running, due to work commitments but joined the Newmarket Joggers in January. The power of 10 recorded that daisy’s time was the 3rd fastest marathon run in 2018. Impressively she was the first British female to finish, giving her 20th overall position from a field of over 10.000 runners. An amazing achievement from a member to the Newmarket Club.
In other news Brighton was home to both a 10k run and a marathon this weekend. Jo Curtis and David Blackstock crossed the line of the 10k together with a personal best time of 51.25.
Personal bests were also ran by Bethany Broughton (4.08.52), Ellie Bithell – (3.55.29 ) and Dave Price – (5.01.11) . These runners all completed the marathon that finishes on the front at Brighton.
Other good runs were put in by Malcolm McConnell (43.46) and Nicky Chapman (44.56) who ran the Cambourne 10K. Malcolm was first jogger home in this run. Kevin Connolly and Clive Purbrook also did the club proud, crossing the finish line.
Caroline McIntosh tackled the Norwich Half and crossed the line in 2.47.12.
