11th December 2017

The 2nd of the winter cross country league runs took place last weekend. Woodbridge was the ground for this run. The tough muddy cross country route tested out 439 runners, of which 25 were from The Newmarket Joggers. 1st jogger to cross the line was Paul Holley in 26.28. Paul came in 14th. Other runners putting in top runs included, Mark Hayward, Jon Brooker, Neville Clarke, Alan Shand, Christ Aylmer, Jan Holmes and Jenny Osbourn, to name just a few. All of the clubs runners to cross the line help add to the points for the whole club, getting them closer to that overall winners trophy, so it fantastic that so many of the club brave the elements to join in.
Other congratulations for club members this week, were handed out at the annual joggers awards. The clubs members take off their running gear for one evening and celebrate the whole clubs achievements. The achievements can be anything from running 3 miles, when you have never done,
to improving and gaining a personal best, to running marathons. All the clubs members are winners, but the main prizes this year went to the following,
Champion Performer – Neil Pollard
Club Member – Jeremy Reader
New Member – Jan Holmes / Jamie Rule
Veteran – Carol McIntosh / Neville Clarke
Improver – Sarah Sales / Giles Macrow
Team Member – Emma Townsend / Mark Hayward
Winter 5K – Emma Townsend / James Thomson
Grand Prix – Helen Wass / Clive Purbrook

Well deserved and another great year for the joggers.
