Members of the Newmarket Joggers ran both near and far in the last week.
Beginners 2017 group member Chlodie Rolph ran a personal best at the Ely 5k. Only her 2nd club run since joining Chlodie came in with 30.29. Having never been able to run under 31 mins this is a great achievement for Chlodie.
In Manchester Neil Pollard and Hannah Pollard joined the emotional nearly 7000 runners in this weekends Manchester Marathon. Neil crossed the line in an incredible 2.58.59 putting him in 356th overall position. Hannah finished the race in 3.37.01.
Further from home Edinburgh saw the joggers run some great times. With over 6000 finishers, Nicky Chapman completed her final marathon with a course PB of just 3.28.37. having been experiencing foot problems this is a great achievement for Nicky, who says this was her last marathon. Having completed 10 this is really quite impressive. Fellow Newmarket jogger Grainne Brennan, raced around the course in just 3 hours 15 and Kevin Connolly who has been out of training lately, and only managing 1 run a week , completed the Edinburgh half in just 1 hour 37.
Travelling further Alice Leadbeter completed the “Women Can Marathon”. This new race took in the East Devon scenery in the mainly off road run. Alice completed the run with over 300 other runners.
Newmarket Jogger Alan Shand travelled even further to Annecy in France. Alan incredibly completed the 86K ultra run in 18 hours and 49 mins. In 33 degrees heat, with an elevation gain of 5200 meters, Alan completed the run putting him in 792nd position, quite impressive considering there were 1500 original runners.
Another set of excellent results for the club.
