The Newmarket Joggers continue to be on top form over the last couple of weeks. Club runners Jo Curtis and David Blackstock completed the 18 mile Bury st Edmunds to Clare Challenge in 3hrs 29, which across the gently undulating countryside is a fantastic effort.
The second of the Kevin Henry series took place on Thursday 19th May. Hosted by Ely runners at Witchford the mainly flat course with the unexpected raise in elevation for the last half mile, gave plenty of the joggers a superb finish time. 54 of the joggers turned out, keeping the joggers with an overal very respectful placement of 3rd . Denys Olefir first home for the club again, with a 4th overall position at a superb time of 16.16 lead the way for all the joggers to cross the finish line in under 34 minuites. Several personal bests were achieved including those by Ruth Eberhardt at 21.44 and Alex Cairns at 17.58. This 5k race also saw many of the joggers taking minuites of previous times. Ursula Ransom-19.55, Kevin Connolly-19.19, Cathy Russell-24.58, Sharon Woodroofe-31.25, Isabel Vicente- 27.49 and Chris Aylmer-27.07 all shaved precious seconds and minuites off their previous race times from Impington this year.
Even after this some of the joggers still bought in great times at the Bury and Cambridge Park runs this weekend. Ruth Eberhardt, Brian Munns and Jim Withers all put in great performances once again.
Well done Joggers.”
