A dusting of snow and a bright, crisp morning provided the perfect backdrop for a quality field to compete in the Suffolk cross country league. Newmarket Joggers, combined for league purposes with Sudbury Joggers, were once more well represented in a 357 strong field.
Sam Sadler is growing fond of this format and led the Joggers home in 17th place, narrowly pipping Taffy Williams by one second in 18th. Martyn Taylor is building well for Spring endurance targets and was impressive in 24th place. Veteran Greg Davis boxed on in 30th place and scooped the 1st V50 once more.
Grainne Neary is really running well and followed and impressive County podium finish with 74th here, easing the ladies to the top of the league standings. Kevin Connolly is using the shorter races to add sharpness for his Ultra targets and came home in 94th. Nicky Chapman was solid once more in 102nd and Alice Everett was in 106th.
Neville Clarke was impressive in 126th and 1st V60. Ursula Ransom performed well in 136th and Phil Green is returning to form and ran credibly 141th. Neil Williamson is plotting Half Marathon glory later in the year and finished 166th. Clive Purbrook was sure footed produced perfect pacing to come home in 170th. Arran Dennis ran well in 204th and Ruth Eberhardt came home in 210th. Lisa Redman is gaining form and finished in 241st. Helen Wass is a regular runner in the winter format and finished 251st. Belinda Schofield was 264th with Carolynn Anderson in 288th. Brian Munns came home next with Jim Withers close up behind. Chris Alymer in the V60 class ran well in 314th. Malcolm Osbourn was next in 325th. Sally Nicholson is growing keen on cross country and ran with credit, just pipping Isabel Vicente and Gillie Green. Jackie Henley and Jane Smith and improving and Jenny Osbourn and Keith Page ran well.
