Annual Club Awards

The Newmarket Joggers once more combined an evening of dining and dancing at the Rosary Hotel, Exning, with their Annual Awards presentation. After a productive year at all levels, the Joggers were pleased to see some of their newer members collect well deserved trophies.

Champion performer needed little introduction and was of course Paul Holley following his magnificent personal best in the Berlin Marathon in 2015 in a time of 2.38.32. This was accompanied by a series of top class races over a variety of distances throughout the year.

The New Member honours went to Jackie Henley and Craig Sargent. Both great additions to the club. Improver of the Year trophies were awarded to Emma Townsend and Gavin Moody who has made remarkable strides on return from serious surgery. Veteran awards were deservedly collected by Jenny Osbourn and Neville Clarke who has once more collected a series of age group prizes around the region. Team Member prizes go to Helen Wass and Jeremy Reader for outstanding commitment. Alex Cairns took Club Member and is a valued group Leader who has also had a great year in competition.

Founder member Geoff sales presented Kevin Connolly with the special award for Marathon & Ultra running.Kevin took part in the Oldham 40 mile Ultra,Brighton Marathon,North Downs way 50, Stour Valley path 100k, Monster Ultra 42 miles and the Dublin Marathon during 2015.

The Annual Grand Prix trophy is awarded to the leading male and female in a series of 10 mixed terrain events for the 5K summer league and also the Suffolk cross country league, plus one wild card event. The calculations are also age related.

The ladies shield winner was the talented Karine Ferrin and Greg Davis took the male prize.

The club also stages a popular winter 5k h’cap series of training events from October-April and prizes for improvement throughout and general contribution went to worthy winners Debbie Read and Justin Long.
