Newmarket Joggers Alex Cairns and Paul Francis returned to taste the Great North Run after last year’s promising debuts. They were joined this year by Lisa Winnington in the World’s Biggest Half Marathon. Rubbing shoulders with Mo Farah, Alex recorded a superb pb of 1.24.45. Paul came home in 1.30.49.
Lisa Winnington made a great effort after an interupted preparation, running for a charity close to her heart, raising money for celebral palsy, she was joined all the way by her sister and together raised £700. Lisa came home in 2.40.38.
