Newmarket Joggers elite runner Ben Blowes has just crowned a 10 year period of competitive distance runner by completing the arduous 100 miles of the South Downs Way Ultra. The event, which starts in Winchester and finishes in Eastbourne, was completed in 20 hours and 19 minutes. He finished in 24th place overall.
After recently running the 100km London to Brighton Ultra, Ben chose this event as his retirement race. Fellow endurance athletes Martyn Taylor and Tom Stedman helped out by running long sections with Ben to support and encourage him.
Ben has multiple sub three hour London Marathons to his name and last year saw him record personal bests at all distances from 5k to Marathon culminating in a 2.48 London Marathon to be arguably the clubs champion performer of 2014.
Kevin Connolly also started the 100 mile event, but sadly had to retire due to persistent foot injury.
