NJ Round Up – 5th Jan

Ely New Years Eve 10K

The Ely festive 10K is always popular with the Newmarket Joggers and 2014 was no exception. Icy conditions were not deterrent for Chris Gay who led the Joggers home in 24th place in a time of 37.42. There was solid support from Neil Williamson in 43.45 and Clive Purbrook, giving an uncanny Buster Merryfield impression, chipped in 44.52. vice Chairman Marcus Gynn kept outthe cold via a Fred Flinstone costume but still performed admirably in 48.49.

Lee Dickenson and Brian Munns were close up and Jim Withers continued his comeback trail. Belinda Schofield has had a great year and continued with a time of 50.12. Mary Marsh and Sarah Sales also produced good runs. Lisa Jennings had some canine assistance and came home in 1.06 and Joggers coach Jennie Grimwood turned out to compete too and put in a fine run.
