NJ Round Up – 3rd November

Lode Half marathon.

It was a pretty dismal morning of drizzly rain. The Half Marathon road route had to be reduced to 10.9 miles at the last minute, due to a Halloween Rave causing major disruption and a police operation in Burwell. This accounts for the Mo Farah-like time of the winner: Kieren Drain 1:02:36.

The runners really appreciated the efforts of the organisers to put on the race under difficult circumstances. The flat road route was perfect for maintaining a comfortable steady pace and enjoyed by the runners.

There were 195 finishers in all and 6 Newmarket Joggers running with times as follows:

26th Jason Beeton 1:15:00(MS)

58th Clive Purbrook 1:21:37(MV50)

84th Keith Williams 1:25:36(MV50)

88th Charles Shoolbred 1:26:37 (MV60+) 60+Trophy Winner

115th Belinda Schofield 1:32:54 (FV50)

143rd Malclom Osbourn 1:40:46(MV60+)

Two Newmarket Joggers also competed in the Lode 3 mile Fun Run : Corinne Shoolbred and Chris Aylmer with times not yet officially announced.
