Norwich Half marathon
Belinda Schofield was in great form again with a podium age group finish. She was 2nd in her category in 1.54.22. Belinda was well supported by Clive Purbrook and Paul Dockerill in 1.40.22 & 1.42.25 respectively. The times were surely value for much faster times considering the constant heavy rain.
Hadleigh 10 & 5 Mile Races
Constant rain greeted the entrants, marshals and organisers of the John Chisnall Memorial Hadleigh 5 and 10 mile road races on Sunday morning, but Hadleigh Hares coped brilliantly at the event HQ in Hadleigh United FC Stadium. The enthusiastic marshals helped raise runners’ spirits. The route contained lots of huge unavoidable muddy puddles where the roads had flooded….in the end, quite fun to splash through after you got used to cold, wet feet!
The cake stall was excellent with proceeds going to a charitable cause in memory of John Chisnall(51), a long standing member of Hadleigh Hares, who sadly died of melanoma last year.
Four Newmarket Joggers were in action, two in each race. Nik Chapman(MV40) ran a great 10 miles. in yet another pb, to finish 67th in 1:12:35 with veteran Malcolm Osbourn(MV65+) finishing 187th in a very creditable time of 1:32:42. In the 5m event, Chris Aylmer(MV60) ran his Grand Prix wild card and finished 66th in 45:53, with Jenny Osbourn(FV65+) running a fine race to finish 112th in 57:50.
