NJ Round Up – 2nd Sept

Mersea 5 & 10 Mile Races Sunday 24th August.

Paul Holley returned from injury in style when he won the Mersea 5 Mile race in 28:17, he was 35 seconds in front of the second placed runner.

Neville Clarke was 41st overall in the 10 Mile Race in 1:13:57 with Nik Chapman 43rd in 1:14:17 there were 193 finishers in the 10 Mile Race.

The 10 mile is 2 laps of the 5 mile course, undulating route but weather conditions on the day were good with little wind and amazingly the sun shone.

Putney & Fulham Riverside Half Marathon

The Purbrook family represented the Newmarket Joggers with pride and some stunning performances in the Fulham & Putney Half Marathon on Sunday.
There were personal bests for Barnabus Purbrook in 1.31.38 and Ruth in 1.34.36 and another fine run run from the consistent Clive Purbrook in 1.42.20, all three were encouraged along by the healthy and noisy population of parakeets which having made the trees along the Thames their home in recent years.

Framlingham 10K Sunday 31st

A sell-out field of 350 at the Framlingham 10K was blessed with a sunny,breezy day for the race over 2 laps of rolling country lanes.
Greg Davis was first home for the Joggers in 17th place(2nd V50) in 38.07. The reliable Neville Clarke was 2nd V60 in 44.16 with Charles Shoolbred 3rd V60 in a time of 47.37. There was also a fine effort from Corrine Schoolbred, 2nd V60 in 1.05.36.
Charlie and Ruby Davis took part in the 1 mile fun run which also had a record entry.

Charlie was 2nd girl u15 and Ruby 3rd u11. They start from the same place as the 10K and then most of the mile event is uphill through the town to the finish after a lap of the sports ground.
