NJ Round Up – 11th August

North Downs Way 100 mile Ultra 9th/10th August.

Newmarket Jogger Kevin Connolly clearly was not not deterred by his first Ultra distance event, the SVP 100km last year. Aided by a superb support team he took on the North Downs Way 100 mile Ultra run over National Trust paths between Farnham in Surrey and Wye in Kent.

Kevin finished in 27 hours and 25 minutes to finish well in side the allotted 30 hours time frame. It takes a very special athlete to manage such an unusual challenge.

Kevin Henry 5K League, Haverhill 8th August.

The Joggers were once again very well represented for the popular Thursday evening 5K league event. This penultimate fixture was hosted superbly by Haverhill Runners.

34 male and female Joggers lined up, and they were led home by Paul Holley(10th overall) on his returned from a painful back injury in 17.08. The improving Martyn Taylor was close up in 17.15. Sam Sadler and Chris Gay completed a superb quartet to finish in sub 18 minutes. Many of the Clubs regular race performers were again in evidence, and they have been increasingly supported this year by the significant number of new members that have made a really encouraging transition from the Winter Beginners Group and are now training and race regularly with the Club.
