NJ Round Up – 12th May

Nik Chapman was the only Newmarket Jogger to run the Halstead Marathon on Sunday and did so in style by claiming another personal best (PB) time for 2014, Nik has entered 6 races of various distances over the last 5 months and achieved PB’s in all of them crowning it on Sunday with the marathon distance in a time of 3:31:21 finishing 103rd overall out of over 500 finishers.

Also recording a PB was Junior Jogger Oliver Wordsworth-Clarke, the 8 year old aspiring athlete ran the Milton Park Run covering 5k in distance in a new PB of 26:10.

Simon Harris was running the 10k distance and finished 24th overall in the Croxton 10k in a time of 39:44.

The Kevin Henry 5k League had its first fixture of 2014 at the Cambridge Triathlon Club’s Impington Course and 31 Joggers turned out to compete for the team. First over the line for the club in 2nd position overall was Paul Holley followed by Martyn Taylor in 14th with Ben Blowes next in 17th position. Ursula Ransom was first lady for the club in 69th position overall, Helen Wass was next for the ladies in 228th position overall with Marjie Davis next in 230th position.

Neville Clarke ran the Dereham 10 mile races and was 64th overall in a time of 71:21 and 2nd Mv60.

Sunday was the first running of the Haverhill Half Marathon and 10k in which some Newmarket Joggers participated in the inaugural event however results are not yet published from the race organisers so a report will follow next week.
