The inaugural Newmarket Joggers 10 week beginners course came to a successful completion when twenty three runners crossed the finishing line of a 5K timed run. On the night the runners were supported by established Newmarket Joggers members who ran with the group offering encouragement and pacing tips along the way.

The course has been well attended every week, despite winter weather conditions, with everyone showing enthusiasm and dedication to their training, so much so the course has been hailed as having one of the highest retention rates within the local area.  Many of the original participants have now joined Newmarket Joggers and are looking forward to competing for the club in the forthcoming Heath Race, 5k League as well as other team events and joining in the Tuesday and Thursday training sessions.

The course was managed from its inception by Neil Williamson (Newmarket Joggers LiRF Coach) who provided a detailed training plan throughout and managed and advised all those training and coaching.  Neil was assisted by various Joggers throughout the course and thanks goes to them for giving up their time each week and adding to the success of the course: Debbie Read, Jennie Grimwood, Greg Davis, Stuart Janes, Alex Cairns and Paul Holley, in addition Paul Evans came along to mentor the coaches and runners and his advice and involvement throughout has been extremely beneficial.

The commitment  of the coaches and attendees has ensured the course was a resounding success and we all look forward to seeing the group develop their fantastic skills over the forthcoming months as they train with the club, due to the success of this course we hope to host a similar course in the future.
