Race Report – 11/11/13

Three Newmarket Joggers travelled to the popular Remembrance Sunday Scenic 7 in Stowmarket on Sunday. The race which is organised by Stowmarket Striders is a popular run with 337 participants who all lined up and took the 2 minute silence in remembrance of our war dead. The race is hugely competitive and this year was no exception although there was a slight wind in parts the undulating course was conquered by the Joggers trio and first home in 2nd position overall was Paul Holley in a time of 38:21 also claiming 1st Mv45, next home in 44:48 and 29th position was Stephen Edwards, with Charles Shoolbred next in 53:00 117th overall and 4th Mv60+.

Saturdays Cambridge Park Run course had suffered the deluge of Fridays rain and the course was more akin to cross country conditions, however this did not deter the 348 runners with first home for the Joggers Chris Howell in 18:40 and 8th position, posting a new PB for the 5k distance was Marcus Gynn who having been injured earlier in the year is making a great comeback finishing 69th overall in 22:08.
