Ely New Years Eve 10k

New Years Eve was celebrated early by over 500 runners who lined up in Little Downham for the annual 10k organised by Ely Runners.  This is a flat course and gives competitors the chance to not only work off the Christmas excess but the opportunity to record a PB (personal best).

11 Joggers bravely set off on this the last race of the year and in true Hogmanay style were piped to the start by a magnificent piper who also motivated all the runners up the last incline at the 8½km mark.  The first Jogger home to mark what has been another fantastic year for the team was Ben ‘Spiderman’ Blowes who recorded a time 39:21 a magnificent achievement in itself but also did it dressed as Spiderman, much to the bemusement of fellow Joggers and spectators alike.

Ursula White capped another PB for the year and was first female  home for the club as well as 3rd FV35 in 42:10 also in the honours as 2nd MV60 was David Cheese in 43:36 beating his fellow Jogger by a moustache whisker as Jim Withers crossed the line in 43:37.

Fresh back from injury in a great time of  44:38 was Nick Conway. Susannah Rush was second female for the club in 46:47 with Claudine Butler next in 50:55 followed by Carolynn Anderson in 52:20, Kevin Collins in 55:25, Mary Marsh 56:24 and Dave Price 56:57.
