The Newmarket joggers hosted the “Marcus Gynn 10K this weekend. The race was renamed last year in memory of one of its members “Marcus Gynn” who passed away in 2016. The event was attended by his family, friends and colleagues. Money raised from this event is being donated to Sacoma UK Charity. The full results are not yet available however we do know Chris Darling from Cambridge and Coleridge club won the race in 33.40. Neil Pollard was the first Newmarket Jogger home in 35.49 giving him 3rd place. Cambridge and Coleridge won the men’s team prize and Haverhill Running Club won the Ladies prize.
Some of the Newmarket Joggers ran in fancy dress to raise funds for the charity.
Jeremy Reader, Robert Jaina and John Duke, despite the sunny summers day ran as the 3 kings ….including camels! Club runner Ruth Eberhardt managed to take 5 minutes of her previous 10k run time and clocked up a PB at this race of just 45.42. The rest of the results will be out for next weeks press reports but a great effort for all the runners who took part today.
Other Joggers running in other areas, were Svetlana Zinchenko, Caroline McIntosh and Ellie Bithell who completed the Bassingbourn half marathon. Ellie Bithnell ran an impressive PB of 1.48.41.
Lisa Winnington was in London taking part in the Great Newham 10K. Lisa finished in 1.00.47.
Meanwhile club runner Giles Macrow who has just finished his challenge to run every day in June, covering 140 miles finished off his weekend with a PB at the March 5k park run – 21.15 and also a PB at the Marcus Gynn 10k – 44.42.
