Last week saw the return of the Suffolk Grand Prix Series. 5 runs of 5 mile courses in various places in the Suffolk area. The first “Friday 5” took place just outside Stowmarket. Club runner Mark Hayward came 8th out of 452 runners, with his time of 29.15. Neville Clarke crossed the line 1st in his age group. Other joggers taking part were, Stephen Edwards, Neil Williamson, Jim Withers, Brian Munns, Chris Aylmer, Jo Curtis, David Blackstock and Helen Wass.
Another of the Kevin Henry 5K runs took place in Newmarket this week. The full results are yet to be published but new club runner Giles Macrow ran a fantastic personal best, with a time of 21.35. Giles lost 11.5 stone in the last 2 years and has taken up running to aid and maintain his fitness. Impressive running from Giles.
Further afield Jackie Hall, Sandra Jaina and Robert Jaina took to the grounds of Boughton Hall in Northamptonshire. They took part in the Runstock Rat Race. This very undulating, off road ,tough to navigate course was run in 5k loops around the estates grounds. Jackie and Sandra both completed 20K and Robert managed 40k before having to pull out with injury.
